What we do

Malta’s Smooth Radio is a national independent commercial radio station, licensed by the Broadcasting Authority.

Our station format is set out below. This information is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we do for the communities we serve.


Malta’s Smooth Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day in stereo on DAB+ digital radio. The signal covers more than 444,000 residents of Malta and Gozo.

National coverage is also available on Melita TV, online via this website and on smartphones, tablets, laptops and personal computers.


Smooth automates its programming using computer technology.


Smooth’s programming output is based at the state-of-the-art Digi B Network Broadcast Centre in Malta.


News bulletins are aired at 0700, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100, 2200 and 2300.


Smooth provides a ‘clutter free’ mix, appealing to a core 35-59 audience offering soft adult contemporary classics. We operate a playlist of popular tracks which is updated on a regular basis.


What’s on information for the Maltese Islands can be heard every hour across the day on Smooth, aimed at holidaymakers as well as residents of Malta and Gozo.

Smooth also promotes a number of good causes. We regularly broadcast social responsibility campaigns that encourage healthy lifestyles, road safety and respect for the environment. Our charity partners are The Princes’ Trust and WWF.
