Smooth 70s is here

Smooth Radio has launched Smooth 70s on DAB+ digital radio across Malta and Gozo.

The new station joins sister stations Smooth Malta and Smooth Breeze on the national Smooth digital multiplex.

Smooth 70s brings listeners the biggest feel good 70s tunes from iconic artists including Queen, ABBA, David Bowie, Blondie, The Eagles and Stevie Wonder.

Simon Lumsden, managing editor of Smooth, said: ‘We’re incredibly excited to reveal yet another addition to the Smooth brand – Smooth 70s. The playlist features classic feel good favourites and with another new station joining the family, our listeners are in for a treat!

‘I’m delighted that we are offering something new for listeners from the heart of Smooth’s unique music mix. This station has been created for people who love music from the 1970s.’

The Broadcasting Authority approved the official licence for Smooth 70s in December 2023, making it Malta’s newest radio station.

Sergio D’Amico, managing director of DAB+ operator Digi B Networks, said: ‘We’ve noticed Smooth has enjoyed tremendous growth particularly recently, and at the same time, the main Smooth channel has evolved and grown.

‘It’s fantastic to welcome Smooth 70s to our growing DAB+ family. Listeners should autotune their DAB radio sets to be able to tune in.’
